Steve has served in senior positions in American labor organizations for over 20 years including as Research Director for the Teamsters and Director of Strategic Resources for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and as Fund Director for the IAM’s multiemployer pension, savings and health and welfare plans.
Steve has worked for the past 15 years in the intersection of labor and capital, as a partner in a private equity firm sourcing deals and funding, and in the governance of portfolio companies, and most recently through his consulting firm Sleigh Strategies LLC. He has served on the Board of Directors of Amalgamated Bank (AMAL) and Americold Logistics (COLD).
Steve has also served as a Director on the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond; as co-chair of the Heartland Capital Strategies initiative; and as past President of the Labor and Employment Relations Association.
Steve has a PhD from the City University of New York; a Masters Degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government; a Batchelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts; and a Journeyman Machinist certification from Washburne Trade School in Chicago.
